APIP was part of the business delegation organized by NERLEI CCI - the Leiria Region Business Association/Chamber of Commerce and Industry - to Colombia, as part of the Leiria Trade & Growth project, an initiative dedicated to promoting the industrial capabilities of the Leiria region and developing new opportunities for international cooperation.
Representing APIP, Nuno Frois, Vice President for the Rigid Packaging Sector and representative of SIE - Sociedade Internacional de Embalagens, S.A., participated in the mission’s program, which included meetings with Colombian institutional and business entities, visits to COLOMBIAPLAST, and opportunities for networking and gaining insight into the local market.
One of the highlights took place at COLOMBIAPLAST in Bogotá, where Nuno Frois presented “Potential and Opportunities for Collaboration in the Plastics Sector of the Leiria Region,” highlighting the current state and capabilities of the region’s plastics industry.
The presentation highlighted a diversified and innovation-oriented industrial ecosystem, based on the proximity between different stages of the value chain, collaboration among companies, universities, and technology centers, and a strong capacity to develop solutions for various application sectors. Opportunities for collaboration between Portugal and Colombia were also discussed, particularly in the areas of packaging, medical devices, electronics, plastic components, recyclable materials, and integrated industrial solutions.
Throughout the mission, the delegation also had the opportunity to meet with organizations such as the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the Portuguese Embassy in Bogotá, Invest in Bogotá, the Packaging Cluster, ANALDEX - National Association of Foreign Trade, PROCOLOMBIA, iNNpulsa Colombia, and the Delegation of the European Union in Colombia, thereby deepening their understanding of the market and the possibilities for cooperation between the two regions.
This initiative helps raise the international profile of the Portuguese plastics industry, bring companies and institutions closer together, and pave the way for new commercial and cooperative relationships.
