APIP organized a Presentation Session on the PPWR Regulation
January 8, 2025
On January 8, 2025, the Portuguese Plastics Industry Association (APIP) held an exclusive session for its members at the Leiria Museum, where the main measures of the future Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which will replace the current Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive and is expected to be published at the beginning of this year, were presented in advance.
In this session, which included an intervention by Nuno Aguiar, APIP's Technical Director, and had around 50 participants, the measures considered most relevant and with the greatest impact on the plastics sector were highlighted, namely in terms of recyclability, targets for prevention, reuse, recycling and incorporation of recyclates into new packaging, restrictions on placing specific packaging on the market, labeling requirements, among others.
Given the importance of this issue and others with an impact on the sector, APIP will continue to develop and promote initiatives of this nature, in order to ensure that its associative structure and the sector in general are aware of the necessary information to enable them to anticipate challenges and opportunities, foresee changes and align themselves with the new national and European requirements, ensuring compliance.
Our thanks to everyone!
