APIP Strengthens European Engagement at the EuPC Annual Conference and General Assembly 2026
June 2 - 3, 2026
APIP participated in the Annual Conference and General Assembly of European Plastics Converters (EuPC), held in Brussels on 2 and 3 June, reinforcing its commitment to representing the Portuguese plastics industry in the main European decision-making and industry forums.
The Association was represented by Amaro Reis, President of APIP, and Pedro Paes do Amaral, Executive Vice-President of APIP and member of the EuPC Board of Directors.
Under the theme "Building Europe’s Plastics Value Chain – From Regulation to Industrial Reality", the conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers and key stakeholders to discuss the major challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the European plastics sector.
Key topics included industrial competitiveness, innovation, sustainability and the acceleration of the circular economy, within a context marked by significant regulatory developments and the need to strengthen the resilience and investment capacity of European industry.
The EuPC General Assembly, held on 3 June, was marked by the election of Jean-Marc Galvez as President of EuPC for the 2026–2028 mandate, succeeding Benoît Hennaut, who led the organisation over the past four years.
APIP congratulates Jean-Marc Galvez on his election and wishes him every success in his new role, while also recognising the significant contribution made by Benoît Hennaut in strengthening the representation of the European plastics industry and consolidating EuPC’s position as a leading voice within European institutions.
The event also provided an opportunity to promote the WUPA – World Union of Plastics Associations, an international initiative dedicated to strengthening cooperation among plastics associations worldwide, fostering a shared vision for the future of the plastics industry, and developing collaborative solutions to address global societal challenges.
At a time when European regulatory decisions increasingly influence business competitiveness and the evolution of value chains, APIP’s active participation in these forums is essential to ensure that the Portuguese plastics industry is represented in policy discussions and decision-making processes that will shape the future of the sector.
APIP will continue to work closely with its European and international partners to promote a more competitive, innovative and sustainable plastics industry, capable of responding to the challenges of the circular transition and the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
