APIP was welcomed at the NPE2024 Trade Fair in Orlando, Florida

APIP - the Portuguese Plastics Industry Association was welcomed to the NPE2024 trade fair in Orlando, Florida!
Considered the largest trade fair in the sector on the American continent, NPE2024 opened its doors on May 6 and brought together the entire value chain to discuss innovative solutions and emerging technologies in the world of plastics.

APIP's President and Executive Vice-President, Amaro Reis and Pedro Paes do Amaral, respectively, were received by Perc Pineda, Chief Economist and Vice-President of Research at the Plastics Industry Association, the organizer of NPE2024.



APIP organized several actions to organized several actions to promote the Sustainable Plastics Agenda, among which we highlight the following:

  • a meeting with Leandro Canto, CEO of Tecnocanto - Tecnologia de Sistemas e Equipamentos Industriais, Lda, an APIP member company which has been developing automation systems, extrusion, recycling and packaging equipment for over 25 years and which is part of the Sustainable Plastics consortium in PPS 13: BIOFILM;
  • meeting with Carlos Poço and Daniel Sousa, CEO and DG, respectively, of Periplast - Extrusion Expertise, an APIP member and specialist in extrusion, with solutions in line with the latest Industry 4.0 standards and which is part of the Sustainable Plastics consortium in PPS 11: ECOTELEPOLES;
  • meeting with Isabel Castellà Gutzeit, Area Sales Manager at Sirplaste - Sociedade Industrial de Recuperados de Plástico, S.A. an APIP member company that has been a benchmark in the world of plastic waste recycling for over 45 years, and which is part of the Sustainable Plastics consortium as a leader in PPS 10: RECY.TUBE.


With regard to the promotion of the Plastics Summit - Global Event, we would highlight the following actions:

  • meeting with Perc Pineda, Chief Economist and Vice-President of Research at the Plastics Industry Association, the organizer of NPE2024. At this meeting, the next edition of the Plastics Summit - Global Event was presented, which will take place on October 6 in Lisbon, and details were discussed regarding consultation between the two entities and the operationalization of the event;
  • a meeting with several Latin American plastics industry associations, including two of the four co-organizers of the Plastics Summit - Global Event, Rogerio Mani, President of ABIEF - Brazilian Association of the Flexible Plastic Packaging Industry and Vice-President of ABIPLAST - Brazilian Plastics Industry Association and Aldimir Torres, President of ANIPAC A. C. C, as well as representatives from other Associations in the sector, namely AGEXPORT - Asociación Guatemalteca de Exportadores, AVIPLA - Asociacion Venezoelana de Industrias Plasticas, APIPLAST - Asociación Peruana de la Industria del Plástico, ASEPLAS - Asociación Ecuatoriana de Plásticos and AMP Amaplast;
  • participation in the event to welcome institutional guests to NPE2024, which was hosted by Matt Seaholm, CEO of the Plastics Industry Association and Perc Pineda, Chief Economist and Vice-President of Research of the North American Plastics Industry Association. At this event, Amaro Reis and Pedro Paes do Amaral, President and Executive Vice-President of APIP, had the opportunity to meet with Aldimir Torres and Raúl Mendoza, Vice-President and General Director of ANIPAC A.C., the Mexican Plastics Industry Association. The day also provided an opportunity for government contacts, namely with Yazmin Rojas Mustafa, Commercial Specialist at the U.S. Commercial Service;
  • meeting with Mª Carmen del Amo, Communications and Marketing Director and Industry Division of ANAIP, one of the associations co-organizing the Plastics Summit - Global Event.


Also noteworthy were the meetings with APIP member companies, namely:

  • Simoldes Group, to which Simoldes Plastics belongs, represented by Rui Paulo Rodrigues, CEO. Simoldes Plastics is a benchmark in the field of thermoplastic injection, with its main activity in the automotive industry;
  • F. Caixeiro was represented by João Silvestre and Catarina Melo, Product and Commercial Development Manager and Commercial Manager respectively. Since 1994, F. Caixeiro has been a specialist in the manufacture of machines and accessories for industry. In 2022, it expanded its range of products to include the Spanish market.
