Sustainable Plastics Agenda: Innovation and Sustainability in Action!

February 4, 2025

On February 4, 2025, the Sustainable Plastics Agenda had the honour of welcoming the National Monitoring Committee for the Recovery and Resilience Plan CNA | PRR to the premises of Logoplaste Innovation Lab - as the lead company in an initiative co-organized with APIP, as the entity responsible for promoting and disseminating the Agenda's results.
Sustainable Plastics Agenda: Innovation and Sustainability in Action!

During the session, the delegation, led by its President, Pedro Dominguinhos, had the opportunity to learn about the progress of this transformative project, which aims to boost innovation and sustainability in the plastics sector. As well as demonstrating some of the prototypes already developed, the session, which was attended by the project board and various co-promoters, allowed for a constructive dialog about operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.

This is an important milestone for one of the first contracts signed under the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation of the PRR - Recovering Portugal, with a total investment of 39 M€, whose consortium brings together 39 companies and 10 non-business entities from the scientific and technological system.

The aim? Leverage the plastics sector's transition to a truly circular economy by developing innovative products and promoting technological and scientific progress. The main goals of the Sustainable Plastics Agenda are:

  • Introducing 21 innovative products to the market - which add value to the Circular Economy of Plastics and consumers
  • 36 scientific publications and new patents, registering technological and scientific progress and sharing knowledge at national and international level
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with production processes by 30%
  • Involving around 427 highly qualified human resources in the fields of science, engineering and technology
  • Promoting more than 80 training activities

APIP would once again like to thank Logoplaste Innovation Lab, the Co-Promoters present and, on behalf of the Sustainable Plastics Agenda, the visit of the delegation from the National Commission for Monitoring the Recovery and Resilience Plan CNA | PRR.
