APIP opens new Office in Oliveira de Azeméis

On January 26, APIP - Portuguese Plastics Industry Association held a public session on the Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda and the Roadmap for Decarbonisation of the Plastics Industry, as well as the solemn inauguration of the new Delegation, which took place at the Ul/Loureiro Host Area Business Centre in Oliveira de Azeméis.

The new office, located in the Business Centre of the Ul/Loureiro Host Area, in Oliveira de Azeméis, represents another important milestone for the Association in strengthening its proximity to its members and other partner entities, becoming another meeting point and synergy between the Academy and companies in the sector and promoting objective and scientific knowledge towards the consolidation of an effective green transition.

This session was attended by the Mayor of Oliveira de Azeméis, Joaquim Jorge Ferreira, and featured the presentation of two projects promoted by APIP and co-financed by the PRR, which are structuring the transition of the plastics value chain to a circular and carbon-neutral economy.



The Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda, led by Logoplaste Innovation Lab, was presented by Jorge Coelho, the project's Scientific Coordinator, and the Roadmap for Decarbonising the Plastics Industry, developed in partnership with EY, was presented by the Coordinators of the project's Strategic and Scientific Advisory Board Committees, Jorge Cristino and Marta Moreira Marques respectively. During the event, strategic themes were also discussed for companies' activities in consolidating their green transition, namely ESG, with speeches by Luís Nobre Guedes, Founding Partner of Nobre Guedes & Associados and Miguel Feliz, Managing Partner of S317 Consulting, and the importance of Standardisation and Sectoral Standardisation Bodies, where the vision of the President of the Portuguese Quality Institute - IPQ, Joao Pimentel and the Executive Director of APIP, Joana Martins Mendes, was shared and the protocol integrating APIP into the decentralised network for consulting standards was signed. Vasco Rodrigues from Católica Porto Business School also presented APIP's latest statistical project, which analyses the sector's economic situation.


The opening session was attended by Amaro Reis, President of APIP, Filipe de Botton, Chairman of Logoplaste and António da Silva Rodrigues, President of AECOA. The closing session was attended by Rui Paulo Rodrigues, Vice-President of the Simoldes Group, Bernard Merkx, Managing Director of European Plastics Converters | EuPC and the Mayor of Oliveira de Azeméis, Joaquim Jorge Ferreira.
