APIP strengthens international relations and promotes strategic initiatives at Equiplast / Expoquimia 2026
June 9, 2026
APIP attended Equiplast / Expoquimia 2026, which took place in Barcelona and concluded on June 5, reporting extremely positive results from its participation in what is one of the most important international events dedicated to the plastics and chemical industries.
Over the course of the event, the APIP delegation - comprising Pedro Paes do Amaral, President; Joana Martins Mendes, Executive Director; and Cátia Morais, Communications Manager - held several institutional and strategic meetings with national and international organizations. These meetings helped strengthen cooperative relationships, identify new opportunities for collaboration, and establish high-potential contacts for the development of future partnerships.
APIP’s presence also provided an opportunity to highlight two strategic initiatives that reflect the sector’s vision for a more innovative, sustainable, and collaborative future.
Among them was the Sustainable Plastics Mobilizing Agenda, led by Logoplaste Innovation Lab and promoted by APIP, which brings together companies and entities from the scientific and technological sectors in a joint effort to accelerate the plastics industry’s transition to an effective circular economy through the development of innovative, sustainable, and high-value-added solutions.
The WUPA - World Union of Plastics Associations - was also launched, an international initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation among associations and organizations representing the plastics industry worldwide. Through knowledge sharing, international collaboration, the dissemination of best practices, and more effective communication, WUPA seeks to strengthen the role of the plastics industry in addressing global sustainability challenges.
